The big picture of the Easter holiday is the liberation/salvation that the Lord God used for his exemplary nation Israel by bringing them out of slavery in Egypt.

Ancient history.

The old tradition of Passover focused mainly on Jewish shepherds and herdsmen by offering the firstborn as a sacrifice. But also the Jewish farmers produced the first crops. For the farmers it was called “unleavened bread” Later on, the rituals of Easter and unleavened bread were combined to become one Easter festival that describes “liberation” because the Israelites were taken out of Egypt.

So from that time, the Israelis celebrated the Easter holiday on the 14th day of the Jewish month, Nisan. And finally, in other nations, the 14th day falls on the first date of the fourth month / April

What is today being talked about in Easter?

During Easter week, three important things should be taught throughout the week so that everyone understands Easter or redemption. Those things are as follows;

  • The Passion of the Lord Jesus
  • His death
  • The power of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus

Since Easter, the essence of Easter is “Christ Jesus” from whom we get redemption, that is, the forgiveness of our sins by believing in him and accepting him (Colossians 1:13). Therefore, the Lord’s Passover must talk about those three things “Suffering, his death, and his resurrection” – 1 Corinthians 15:3-4
